We booked our trip to London on a whim while we were in Amsterdam and decided to take the night bus to avoid having to pay any hostel costs for the night. Luckily, the bus was nearly empty making room for Kelsey and I to have our own set of seats to sprawl on. The bus had (poor) wifi and power outlets (that worked for half the trip), but could have been much worse.
Our morning started at Luke and Sophie's flat where Kelsey showered and I took a short nap. We enjoyed brunch at L'amandine Cafe near the flat and tube station.
As this was my second trip to London, we set out to do something I hadn't before - visit King's Cross Station to catch a train from Platform 9 ¾.
Then, we had to pay a visit to the (free) British Museum. Almost all of the public museums here are free to everyone, but I hadn't remembered coming here either when I first visited. There weres a lot of different exhibits, both permanent and temporary, all filled with artifacts that the British have stolen from around the world.
Our time in London wouldn't have been complete without seeing Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Our short time here left us without time to go inside the parliament buildings or Westminster Abbey, so they'll just have to wait for my return! On our way there, we stopped at Trafalgar and Leicester Squares (and grabbed some m&ms from m&m world).
Our pre-show meal was at Sartaj, a fantastic Indian restaurant. They even have a special (that includes free nan bread) if you're there before the shows that evening. Our first day finished seeing my favorite childhood movie - Matilda - come to life at Cambridge Theater.
